Botanical and Terpene Rich Tinctures

At Humboldt Apothecary we pride ourselves on offering a very diverse and comprehensive line of tinctures to meet everyone’s needs. But because there are so many products to choose from, we often get questions about how to navigate our diverse menu and how to pick the right product.

Many people have asked about the difference between Humboldt Apothecary’s terpene rich line and the botanical line. To begin with, the base of the tincture is very different between these two lines. 

The botanical line is in an alcohol base, which is more of a traditional tincture that one would encounter at a natural food and supplement store. The benefit of this type of a tincture is that alcohol is a great solvent for extracting the widest range of different compounds in the plant, which offers the user the most “full spectrum” product possible. The botanical line combines full spectrum plant extracts from cannabis as well as from the other plants in a particular tincture, and the result is a product that is generally very effective for the targeted use. Another benefit of the alcohol base is that it partially bypasses the digestive tract and is rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream, offering rapid onset and rapid relief. 

And last but not least, the alcohol tinctures are primo when making a canna cocktail. Canna cocktails are made by replacing the alcohol with a tincture, and an alcohol-based tincture will not contribute much alcohol overall, but it will dissolve readily into the drink, and the botanical flavor profile will add depth and body to any cannabis cocktail.

While we love the Humboldt Apothecary botanical line and generally recommend these products because they are unique and effective, we understand that not everyone wants an alcohol-based tincture. Because we want our customers to find a suitable tincture for all of their needs, we created our terpene rich line. These products are in a gentle coconut MCT oil base and taste more like a tea in a dropper.  This product line is a classic sublingual tincture that can be held under the tongue so that it absorbs more rapidly into the bloodstream.

These tinctures contain a suite of cannabis and plant terpenes to create a predictable and targeted effect in the body.
