A Guide to Tinctures
Tinctures are liquid extracts made from herbs that are taken orally. Tinctures can be taken under the tongue (sublingually) or they can be added to any food or beverage.
With most tinctures, start around 2.5mg unless you are taking a high THC tincture – then start with just a few drops. Gradually increase your dose until you find what works for you. The goal with a tincture is to find your minimum effective dose – or the least amount you can take to achieve the desired result. Each tincture will list the amount of THC or CBD in a drop or dropper full on its bottle.
If you are taking tinctures for chronic conditions, it is recommended to take them 3 times a day before meals. They absorb faster on an empty stomach but can also be taken with or after meals.
If you are using tinctures for acute conditions, take every 3 hours as needed.
Do not take any other controlled substances, including alcohol. Remember, if you are also vaping, smoking the flower, or using edibles with tinctures, be cautious. Your tolerance may be altered and it is important to get a feel for using the tincture before you add anything else.
Store in a cool, dark place (preferably in the fridge), and always shake well before dosing!
